It was my last semester in college, well virtual college. Thank you, Corona, you were a great help in molding my college experience for what I imagined to be full of outdoor activities and exposure to sitting in front of my laptop, looking at my reflection on the screen. Alright that was it. No more gloomy talk. I am going to dive straight into the fun part. My adventures in Turks and Caicos, with my close friends. Turks and Caicos are two groups of tropical islands and one huge bundle of adventures. I was pitching my friends the idea of a short all boys trip to Turks and Caicos for the longest time, for two reasons. Firstly, Turks and Caicos sounded fun and secondly, none of my friends, including yours truly have girlfriends to bring along on the trip with. Sounds sad? I know. More on that, later. The first thing I did was to see the travel restrictions in Turks and Caicos. I have mentioned them here as well for your convenience. Thank me later.

What Traveling Can Do To You?

Starting with great news, Turks and Caicos has reopened its airports to travelers.

  • All travellers over age 10 must have travel authorization issue to them within 72 hours before departure.
  • All travellers must carry and show negative PCR test for COVID-19 issued within 5 days prior their arrival to the islands.
  • They must carry proof of their health/travel insurance with COVID-19 cover.
  • The travellers coming from high- risk areas must practice 14-day quarantine upon arrival.

With that out of the way, as soon as I knew my friends and I were clear to visit the islands, I started packing. We landed late at night, exhausted and excited. One thing to remember, Turks and Caicos do not have public transportation system but that should not make you worried about commuting. The islands have comprehensive system of Taxis, Car Rentals and even Private Luxury transfers. The taxi at the airport took us to our hotel, Sunset Ridge where we had already made our reservations. I was so exhausted from the traveling that I have no memory of taking the elevator to my room and hitting the sack. I must have had a good sleep since I woke up all charged up for my day. I woke all my friends up for our Catamaran Sail and Snorkel Tour from Providenciales.

The sailing tour consisted of dolphin watching, jumping off at the perfect spot for snorkeling and introducing yourself to the underwater world. Setting sail on the Caribbean Sea along Green Bay and trying to appreciate the beauty of Little Water Cay would be a memory I would come back to whenever life feel like a chore.

We all decided to have lunch at Omar’s Beach Hut, and to say that the food was mind-blowingly delicious, would be an understatement. The sea had made me sleepy so I took a nap on the shore with soft breeze running its fingers through my disheveled hair. On the top of it, I went with my friend's decision and booked my flight United Airlines Reservations. The entire trip felt like something of an intelligently directed coming-of-the-age movie.

My college is over and all of my friends are moving to different places to work and to do what adults do. I guess I will start doing the same. But I find comfort in the thought that whenever I will find all this adulting difficult, I know I can just leave it behind and have the time of my life at Turks and Caicos.
